The Founder
From Humble Beginnings to Industry Leadership
The legacy of SGI was established by the late Mr. Wasantha Wanigasekera, whose visionary leadership laid the foundation for the company on 10th June 1976. Beginning as an importer and wholesale and retail supplier of glass and mirror sheets, SGI opened its first showroom in Colombo-11 and steadily expanded its operations. Over the years, the company diversified its product and service range and now operates a state-of-the-art factory and workshop in Wellampitiya.
SGI sources its products from globally renowned suppliers, including Saint-Gobain, Guardian, Asahi Glass, Siam Pattern Glass, and Pilkington. Equipped with cutting-edge machinery, SGI is proud to be the only glass supplier in Sri Lanka utilizing a European-made tempering machine, ensuring unparalleled quality and precision in its offerings.
Today, SGI continues to thrive under the leadership of Mr. Gemunu Wanigasekera, the Managing Director, who carries forward the vision of the late founder. Supported by a strong team of family members and dedicated staff, the company is expanding into new avenues while remaining committed to delivering the highest quality products to the Sri Lankan market.
